Abstract
The invention provides small molecule drugs that are chemically modified by covalent attachment of a water soluble, non-peptidic oligomer. The conjugates of the invention, when administered by any of a number administration routes, exhibits advantages over previously administered compounds.

A compound having the following structure
- base-sugar-phosphate-[X]b-[POLY]a
- wherein:
- “base-sugar-” has the following structure
- X is a linker when present;
- (b) is an integer having a value of zero or one;
- POLY is a water-soluble, non-peptidic oligomer having an end-capping group selected from hydroxyl and carbon-containing end-capping groups;
- and
- (a) is an integer having a value of one or two, inclusive.
