Abstract
A wheel lubricating device for lubricating at least a portion of a wheel, including: a lubrication applicator, a rotary drive mechanism at least indirectly coupled to said lubrication applicator, a lubrication supply conduit in fluid communication with said lubrication applicator, a transfer pump for transferring a lubricating medium through said lubrication supply conduit to said lubrication applicator.
Claims12
A wheel bore greasing apparatus, comprising:
- a grease roller assembly, the grease roller assembly including:
- a cylindrical support structure having an upper end, a lower end, a lateral surface extending from the upper end to the lower end, and an aperture defined in the lateral surface;
- and
- a roller rotatable about a vertical axis of the roller, the roller being sufficiently sized to at least partially fit through the aperture;
- a motor coupled to the grease roller assembly, the motor being configured to rotate the grease roller assembly about its vertical axis;
- a grease supply;
- a grease supply line having a first end coupled to the grease supply and a second end configured to deposit grease from the grease supply onto the roller;
- wherein:
- the grease roller assembly is positioned in a wheel bore of a wheel, such that the roller abuts the wheel bore,
- grease from the grease supply is applied to the roller, and
- the motor rotates the grease roller assembly such that the grease applied to the roller coats the wheel bore during rotation of the grease roller assembly.
A method for greasing a wheel bore of a wheel using a wheel bore greasing apparatus, the wheel bore greasing apparatus includes a grease roller assembly including a cylindrical support structure having an upper end, a lower end, a lateral surface extending from the upper end to the lower end, and an aperture defined in the lateral surface, and a roller rotatable about a vertical axis of the roller, the roller being sufficiently sized to at least partially fit through the aperture, the method comprising:
- positioning the wheel in relation to the grease roller assembly;
- driving the grease roller assembly such that the grease roller assembly is interposed in the wheel bore;
- driving the roller towards the wheel bore such that the roller forcibly abuts the wheel bore;
- applying grease to the roller;
- and
- rotating the grease roller assembly about an axis, such that the roller rolls along the wheel bore.
A wheel lubricating device, comprising:
- a lubrication applicator,
- a rotary drive mechanism at least indirectly coupled to said lubrication applicator,
- a lubrication supply conduit in fluid communication with said lubrication applicator,
- a transfer mechanism for transferring a lubricating medium through said grease supply conduit and on said lubrication applicator.
