Abstract
Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method and an apparatus for allocating an association identifier, so as to dynamically allocate an association identifier (AID) to a target station. The method according to the embodiments of the present invention includes: sending, by an access point (AP), an AID allocation message to a target station, where the AID allocation message carries a target AID of the target station, and the target station is a station to be allocated with an AID or a station with an AID to be updated.
Claims8
A method for data communication in a wireless local area network (WLAN), comprising:
- updating, by an Access Point (AP), an association identifier (AID) of the station, when a service running on a station changes, wherein the segment of the updated AID matches the changed service;
- sending the updated AID to the station;
- and
- communicating with the station using the updated AID.
A method for data communication in a wireless local area network (WLAN), comprising:
- determining, by a station (STA), that a service running on the station changes;
- sending, by the STA, an association identifier (AID) request message to an Access Point (AP), where the AID request message carries information of the new service;
- receiving a new AID allocated and sent by the AP in response to the AID request message, wherein the segment of the new AID matches the changed service;
- and
- communicating with the AP using the new AID.
An Access Point (AP) in a wireless local area network (WLAN), the AP comprising:
- a first module configured to update an association identifier (AID) of the station when a service running on a station changes, wherein the segment of the updated AID matches the changed service;
- a second module configured to send the updated AID to the station;
- and
- a third module configured to communicate with the station using the updated AID.
A station (STA) in a wireless local area network (WLAN), comprising:
- a first module configured to send an association identifier (AID) request message to an Access Point (AP) when a service running on the station changes, wherein the AID request message carries information of the new service;
- a second module configured to receive a new AID allocated and sent by the AP in response to the AID request message, wherein the segment of the new AID matches the changed service;
- and
- a third module configured to communicate with the AP using the new AID.
