Abstract
A method for controlling transmission rate for video streaming based on queuing delay, includes determining a queuing delay for a packet transmitted from a source to a destination over a packet switched network and adjusting a transmission rate of the source in response to the determined queuing delay.
Claims37
A method for controlling transmission rate for video streaming based on queuing delay, comprising:
- determining a queuing delay for a packet transmitted from a source to a destination over a packet switched network;
- and
- adjusting a transmission rate of the source in response to the determined queuing delay.
A computer program product embodied on a computer readable medium, the computer readable medium having stored thereon a sequence of instructions which, when executed by a processor causes the processor to execute a method for controlling transmission rate for video streaming based on queuing delay, comprising:
- determining a queuing delay for a packet transmitted from a source to a destination over a packet switched network;
- and
- adjusting a transmission rate of the source in response to the determined queuing delay.
A system for controlling transmission rate for video streaming based on queuing delay, comprising:
- a memory, having stored therein:
- queuing delay metadata associated with a packet switched network;
- data packets for transmission;
- and
- transmission rate adjustment policies;
- a transmission rate controller;
- and
- a packet transmission rate module;
- wherein the packet transmission module transmits the data packets stored in the memory across the packet switched network;
- and
- wherein the transmission rate controller utilizes the queuing delay metadata and transmission rate adjustment policies to control the transmission rate of the packet transmission module.
