Abstract
Described are self-tensioning girt assemblies with one or more straps that form loops that extend around opposing sides of an inflatable structure. The one or more strips are configured to apply multi-directional forces such that the girt assembly is self-tensioning. The self-tensioning girt assemblies may comprise at least two sleeves coupled to the inflatable structure and that receive the straps in a way that permits the straps to rotate around the inflatable structure. In some embodiments, the straps are attached to a panel that extends between the straps.
Claims19
A self-tensioning girt assembly comprising:
- at least two straps, wherein each of the least two straps forms a loop that extends around a side of an inflatable structure, wherein the at least two straps are configured to apply multi-directional forces;
- and
- at least two sleeves, wherein each of the at least two straps is received in one of the at least two sleeves such that the at least two straps are permitted to slide around the inflatable structure.
A self-tensioning girt assembly comprising:
- at least two straps, wherein each of the at least two straps forms a loop that extends around a side of an inflatable structure;
- at least two sleeves coupled to the inflatable structure, wherein each of the at least two straps is received in a respective one of the at least two sleeves such that each of the at least two straps is permitted to slide around the inflatable structure;
- and
- a panel that extends between the at least two straps, the panel comprising a first end adjacent the inflatable structure, a second end configured to be coupled to a passenger vehicle doorway, and sides between the second end and the first end, wherein at least portions of the at least two straps are attached to the sides of the panel,
- wherein each of the at least two straps is configured to apply multi-directional forces to the panel such that the panel is subjected to a substantially uniform tension when the inflatable structure is inflated.
A self-tensioning girt assembly comprising:
- a panel having a first end, a second end, and sides, the first end positioned adjacent an inflatable structure and the second end configured to be coupled to a passenger vehicle doorway;
- and
- one or more straps attached to at least a portion of the sides of the panel, wherein the one or more straps forms loops and wherein each loop extends around a side of the inflatable structure, and
- wherein the one or more straps is configured to apply multi-directional forces to the panel such that the panel is subjected to a substantially uniform tension when the inflatable structure is inflated.
