## Abstract

A method of cutting a wafer of composite core from a bulk composite core includes stabilizing the bulk composite core with a fixture, the bulk composite core having a plurality of tube members. The method also includes cutting through each of the tube members to create the wafer while the bulk composite core is stabilized by the fixture.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of cutting a wafer of composite core from a bulk composite core, the method comprising the steps of:
stabilizing the bulk composite core with a fixture, the bulk composite core having a plurality of tube members; and
cutting through each of the tube members.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the bulk composite member has a substantially hexagonal outer geometry.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein each tube member has a hexagonal shaped geometry.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the fixture comprises an outer fixture that supports the bulk composite core by having an inner surface that lies adjacent to each outwardly exposed cell wall of outwardly located tube members.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method according to claim 4, wherein the step of cutting through each of the tube members includes cutting through an unsupported portion of the bulk composite core adjacently to a portion of the bulk composite core supported by the outer fixture.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The method according to claim 4, wherein the step of cutting through each of the tube members comprises cutting along a plane that is parallel to an exposed surface network of the bulk composite core.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the fixture comprises a plurality of mandrels configured for supporting each tube member of the bulk composite core.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method according to claim 7, wherein the plurality of mandrels are mounted to a support.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method according to claim 7, wherein the step of cutting through each of the tube members comprises cutting through each of the plurality of mandrels.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The method according to claim 7, wherein the step of cutting through each of the tube members comprises cutting through each of the tube members adjacent to an each portion of the plurality of mandrels.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The method according to claim 7, wherein the plurality of mandrels are rigid.

The method according to claim 7, wherein the plurality of mandrels are of a foam material.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of stabilizing the bulk composite core with a fixture comprises:
placing the bulk composite core in a container;
depositing a potting compound in contact with an outer surface of the bulk composite core; and
curing the potting compound.
