Apparatus and methods for device authorization in a premises network

An apparatus for controlling access to a premises network, the apparatus comprising:

• at least one first interface;
• at least one second interface;
• a storage apparatus;
• and
• a processor, said processor in data communication with the storage apparatus and configured to execute one or more computer applications stored on the storage apparatus thereon;
• wherein:
• at least one of said one or more computer applications comprises a plurality of instructions which are configured to, when executed, authorize a plurality of client devices to access said premises network;
• and
• at least one other of said one or more computer applications comprising a plurality of instructions which are configured to, when executed, revoke access to said premises network by identified ones of said plurality of client devices.

A computer readable apparatus comprising a medium configured to store a computer program, said computer program comprising a plurality of instructions which are configured to, when executed:

• receive a request for access to at least one premises network from at least one client device connected thereto;
• search a list of authorized devices and a list of unauthorized devices;
• and
• grant or deny access to said at least one premises network to said at least one client device based at least in part on a result of said search.

An apparatus for providing access to a premises network, comprising:

• a first interface;
• a second interface;
• a storage apparatus;
• and
• at least one processing entity in data communication with the storage apparatus, first interface, and second interface, the processing entity configured to run at least one program thereon, said at least one program comprising a plurality of instructions which are configured to, when executed:
• receive at least one identifier corresponding to a client device and at least one identifier corresponding to at least one premises network, said at least one premises network being disposed substantially within a premises of a user;
• receive a request for access to said at least one premises network from said at least one client device, said at least one client device in communication with said at least one premises network;
• in response to said request, search one or more lists of identifiers corresponding to individual ones of a plurality of client devices for said at least one identifier corresponding to said client device, said one or more lists identifying said individual ones of said plurality of client devices as being authorized or unauthorized to receive access to said at least one premises network;
• and
• based at least in part on said search, grant or deny access to said at least one premises network to said at least one client device;
• wherein said user is provided one or more permissions to enable a manual change of a status of an identifier corresponding to a particular client device between being authorized and/or unauthorized to receive access to said at least one premises network.
