Abstract
Methods and systems are described herein for quickly and easily displaying supplemental information about an event occurring in a media asset. In some embodiments, a media application may use a content-recognition module to determine the context of an event and distribute itemized tasks to multiple entities in order to generate the supplemental information about the event.

A method for providing supplemental content associated with media assets, the method comprising:
- transmitting, to a plurality of users, a request for information used to determine a factual basis of a statement in a media asset;
- receiving messages from the plurality of users in response to the request;
- generating supplemental information associated with the statement based on an aggregation of the messages from the plurality of users;
- and
- generating for display the supplemental information on a user device.
A system for providing supplemental content associated with media assets, the system comprising control circuitry configured to:
- transmit, to a plurality of users, a request for information used to determine a factual basis of a statement in a media asset;
- receive messages from the plurality of users in response to the request;
- generate supplemental information associated with the statement based on an aggregation of the messages from the plurality of users;
- and
- generate for display the supplemental information on a user device.
