Treemap Perspective Manipulation

A method comprising:

• in a first visualization in which a hierarchy is encoded by containment, selecting a first instance of a first object representation in the hierarchy and designating a second instance of the object representation, wherein the second instance is a tier within the hierarchy for the object to occupy;
• displaying the first object within the hierarchy as a shape, and wherein selecting the first object comprises selecting an element as defined by the shape;
• dynamically re-ordering the hierarchy in response to the selection and designation, including applying the selection across an entirety of the hierarchy;
• and
• creating a second representation of the hierarchy based on the dynamic re-ordering, the second representation being different from the first representation.
