Systems and methods for adding digital content to content management service accounts

A computer-implemented method comprising the steps of:

• receiving from a first user, by a processor, a request to share digital content from a first user's account within a content management system with a second user having a second user's account;
• generating, by the processor, a link the may be activated by the second user to initiate receiving access to the digital content from the first user's account;
• and
• associating, by the processor, the digital content associated with the first user's account with the second user's account in response to the activation of the generated link, where the association comprises adding journal entries to reconstruct digital content associated with the first user's account to a server-side journal associated with the second user's account.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions for:

• receiving from a first user a request to share digital content from a first user's account within a content management system with a second user having a second user's account within the content management system;
• generating a link the may be activated by the second user to initiate receiving access to the digital content from the first user's account;
• and
• associating the digital content associated with the first user's account with the second user's account in response to the activation of the generated link, where the association comprises adding journal entries to reconstruct digital content associated with the first user's account to a server-side journal associated with the second user's account.
