Abstract
A catheter system is disclosed, having a plurality of expandable arms with radiopaque markers at their ends. Once deployed at a patient's valve, a user can obtain a correct 3D localization image for placement of the replacement valve by aligning the radiopaque markers to be substantially equidistant from each other and substantially located in the same plane, relative to the sensor of an X-Ray machine.
Claims20
A catheter system for obtaining a planar image of a body organ comprising:
- a outer catheter for insertion into the vasculature of a patient;
- an inner catheter insertable through said outer catheter;
- a plurality of expandable extensions disposed at a distal region of said inner catheter;
- wherein each of said plurality of expandable extensions having radiopacity.

A catheter system for obtaining a planar image of a body organ comprising:
- a catheter having a guidewire passage opening at a distal and proximal end of said catheter for passing a guidewire therethrough;
- a plurality of expandable extensions disposed at a distal region of said catheter;
- wherein each of said plurality of expandable extensions have distal ends comprising a radiopaque material.
A method of obtaining a preferred localization image of a body organ comprising:
- delivering a catheter to a desired location in a patient's vasculature;
- deploying a plurality of radiopaque markers outwardly from said catheter;
- taking fluoroscopic images of said radiopaque markers with a fluoroscopic imager;
- evaluating the orientation of said radiopaque markers and determining whether the radiopaque markers are in a preferred localization;
- re-orienting the fluoroscopic imager and taking another image if the preferred localization is not observed;
- repeating the re-orienting of the fluoroscopic imager and taking of another image until the preferred localization is observed.
