Abstract
Methods for treating individuals suffering from inflammation, specifically systemic inflammation including septic shock and inflammatory conditions affecting the gastrointestinal, myocardial and endocrine systems with ladostigil.
Claims19
A method for inhibiting systemic inflammation in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering a daily dose of 10 to 60 mg ladostigil or a pharmaceutically active salt thereof to a subject, thereby inhibiting inflammation in the subject, the subject identified as being afflicted with an inflammatory disease selected from the group consisting of an inflammatory gastrointestinal disease, an inflammatory metabolic disease and ischemia-associated inflammation.
A method for treating an inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering a daily dose of 10 to 60 mg ladostigil or a pharmaceutically active salt thereof to a subject, thereby treating the disease, wherein the disease is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with pathological inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract.
A method for treating an inflammatory metabolic disease in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a ladostigil or a pharmaceutically active salt thereof, thereby treating the disease, wherein the disease is selected from the group consisting of type 2 diabetes mellitus, type 1 diabetes mellitus, pre-diabetes, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance.
A method for reducing or inhibiting ischemic myocardial injury in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a ladostigil in combination with ischemic conditioning, thereby reducing or inhibiting ischemic injury in said subject.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a ladostigil or a pharmaceutically active salt thereof in combination with an ischemic conditioning therapy, selected from the group consisting of erythropoietin, an opioid, insulin and an adenosine A1, A2A, A2B and/or A3 receptor agonist.
A pharmaceutical pack, the pharmaceutical pack comprising:
- a ladostigil or a pharmaceutically active salt thereof;
- an ischemic conditioning therapy, the ischemic conditioning therapy selected from the group consisting of erythropoietin, an opioid, insulin and an adenosine 2 receptor;
- and
- instructions for administering the ladostigil and the ischemic conditioning therapy in concurrent or sequential combination for reducing or inhibiting ischemic injury.
