Abstract
A proppant for use in fracturing a subterranean formation is characterized by specific mean particle size, particle size standard deviation, and aspect ratio. The proppant is prepared from a thermoplastic composition that includes specific amounts of a polyamide and a poly(phenylene ether). The proppant is useful for propping a fracture in a subterranean formation.
Claims22
A proppant for use in fracturing a subterranean formation,
- wherein the proppant is characterized by
- a mean particle size of 0.4 to 1.8 millimeters,
- a particle size standard deviation less than or equal to 70% of the mean particle size, and
- a mean aspect ratio of 1:1 to 2:1;
- wherein the proppant comprises particles comprising a thermoplastic composition comprising the product of melt blending components comprising
- 35 to 80 weight percent of a polyamide, and
- 20 to 65 weight percent of a poly(phenylene ether);
- wherein all weight percents are based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition.
