Abstract
The invention features methods of diagnosing inflammatory disease based on the elevated presence microparticles (MP) expressing certain receptors. The invention also features methods of decreasing fibrosis in the liver by administering MP to subjects with liver fibrosis.

A method of diagnosing a subject for an inflammatory disease comprising determining the amount of microparticles derived from particular cell types in a blood sample of said subject;
- wherein the amount of microparticles derived from particular cell types diagnoses said subject as having an inflammatory disease associated with said particular cell type.
