Abstract
An organic photoconductor includes: a conductive substrate; a charge generation layer formed on the conductive substrate; a charge transport layer formed on the charge generation layer; and a protective coating formed on the charge transport layer. The protective coating comprises nanoparticles incorporated in an in-situ cross-linked polymer matrix. A process for increasing mechanical strength in an organic photoconductor is also provided.
Claims15
An organic photoconductor including:
- a conductive substrate;
- a charge generation layer formed on the conductive substrate;
- a charge transport layer formed on the charge generation layer;
- and
- a protective coating formed on the charge transport layer, the protective coating comprising nanoparticles incorporated in an in-situ cross-linked polymer matrix.
A process for increasing mechanical strength in an organic photoconductor comprising an inner charge generation layer for generating charges and a charge transport layer on the charge generation layer, the charge transport layer for facilitating charge movement, the process including:
- dissolving nanoparticles with a cross-linkable formulation that includes a cross-linkable monomer, oligomer, or polymer, a cross-linking agent, an initiator, and a charge transport material in an alcohol-based solvent to form a solution;
- applying the solution to a surface of the charge transport layer;
- and
- cross-linking the solution on the surface of the charge transport layer to form an in-situ cross-linked protective coating.
A printer including an organic photoconductor drum, the organic photoconductor including:
- a conductive substrate;
- a charge generation layer formed on the conductive substrate;
- a charge transport layer formed on the charge generation layer;
- and
- a protective coating formed on the charge transport layer, the protective coating comprising nanoparticles incorporated in an in-situ cross-linked polymer matrix.
