Abstract
The invention provides compositions and methods for utilizing human epididymal secretory protein E4 (HE4) in the prevention and treatment of cancer and other human diseases.
Claims26
A method of suppressing tumor cell growth in a subject comprising:
- identifying a subject with at least one tumor cell;
- and
- modulating the level of human epididymal secretory protein E4 (HE4) in said tumor cell,
- thereby suppressing tumor cell growth in said subject.
The method of development and application of HE4 based vaccine to generate antitumor, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, or anti-autoimmune disorders.
A method of suppressing tumor cell growth in a subject comprising:
- diagnosing said subject with an HE4-expressing tumor;
- and
- modulating the level of HE4 in or on said tumor in said subject,
- thereby suppressing tumor cell growth in said subject.
A method of suppressing tumor cell growth in a subject comprising:
- identifying a subject that has been diagnosed with an HE4-expressing tumor;
- and
- modulating the level of HE4 in or on said tumor in said subject,
- thereby suppressing tumor cell growth in said subject.
A method of identifying a subject who is responsive to HE4 modulation comprising:
- (a) administering an HE-4 modulating agent to a subject having an HE-4 expressing tumor or contacting a population of HE-4 expressing tumor cells obtained from said subject with said HE-4 modulating agent;
- and
- (b) determining the level of HE-4 in said subject or expressed by said tumor cells, wherein a change said level of HE-4 indicates that said subject is responsive to HE-4 modulating therapy.
A method of monitoring therapeutic efficacy of an HE4 modulating agent comprising:
- administering said HE-4 modulating agent to a subject diagnosed as comprising an HE-4 expressing tumor;
- detecting the level of HE4, CA125, or both in or on a tumor cell obtained from said subject or in a sample of bodily fluid obtained from said subject,
- wherein a decrease in said level of HE4 in said tumor cell or said bodily fluid indicates said HE4 modulator suppressed tumor cell growth in said subject.
