Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming device configured to form a toner image on a sheet; a fixing device, including first and second rotatable members for forming a nip, configured to fix the toner image formed on the sheet by the image forming device; a mounting portion to which the fixing device is detachably mountable substantially along a longitudinal direction thereof; a pressing mechanism configured to press the first rotatable member toward the second rotatable member by entrance thereof, along a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, into a space of the mounting portion through which the fixing device passes during mounting and demounting; and a retracting mechanism configured to retract the pressing mechanism from the space.
Claims20
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image forming device configured to form a toner image on a sheet;
- a fixing device, including first and second rotatable members for forming a nip, configured to fix the toner image formed on the sheet by said image forming device;
- a mounting portion to which said fixing device is detachably mountable substantially along a longitudinal direction thereof;
- a pressing mechanism configured to press said first rotatable member toward said second rotatable member by entrance thereof, along a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, into a space of said mounting portion through which said fixing device passes during mounting and demounting;
- and
- a retracting mechanism configured to retract said pressing mechanism from the space.
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image forming device configured to form a toner image on a sheet;
- a fixing device, including first and second rotatable members for forming a nip, configured to fix the toner image formed on the sheet by said image forming device;
- a pressing mechanism configured to press between said first and second rotatable members;
- a mounting portion to which said fixing device is detachably mountable substantially along a longitudinal direction thereof;
- and
- a moving mechanism configured to move said pressing mechanism so as to be movable to first position where said pressing mechanism presses between said first rotatable member and said second rotatable member by entrance thereof, along a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, into a space of said mounting portion through which said fixing device passes during mounting and demounting, and movable to a second position where said pressing mechanism is retracted from the space.
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image forming device configured to form a toner image on a sheet;
- a fixing device, including first and second rotatable members for forming a nip, configured to fix the toner image formed on the sheet by said image forming device;
- a mounting portion to which said fixing device is detachably mountable substantially along a longitudinal direction thereof;
- a pressing mechanism configured to press said first rotatable member toward said second rotatable member by entrance thereof, along a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, into an overlapping region with said fixing device when said fixing device mounted said mounting portion is viewed substantially along the longitudinal direction;
- and
- a retracting mechanism configured to retract said pressing mechanism from the overlapping region.
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image forming device configured to form a toner image on a sheet;
- a fixing device, including first and second rotatable members for forming a nip, configured to fix the toner image formed on the sheet by said image forming device;
- a pressing mechanism configured to press between said first and second rotatable members;
- a mounting portion to which said fixing device is detachably mountable substantially along a longitudinal direction thereof;
- and
- a moving mechanism configured to move said pressing mechanism so as to be movable to first position where said pressing mechanism presses between said first rotatable member and said second rotatable member by entrance thereof, along a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, into an overlapping region with said fixing device when said fixing device mounted said mounting portion is viewed substantially along the longitudinal direction, and movable to a second position where said pressing mechanism is retracted from the overlapping region.
