Abstract
Wound dressing articles comprising a nonwoven web comprising a plurality of fibers having grafted pendant hydrophilic groups, methods that use high energy irradiation for making a plurality of fibers having grafted pendant hydrophilic groups, useful for making wound dressing articles.
Claims12
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein the plurality of fibers comprise cellulose.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein the individual polymer chains comprise acrylic acid monomer units.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein the hydrophilic groups comprise any of carboxylic acid, hydroxyalkyl, methoxyalkyl, polyethyleneglycol, methoxy polyethyleneglycol, or combinations thereof.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein the hydrophilic groups comprise carboxylic acid groups or a salt thereof, or a combination of carboxylic acid groups and a salt thereof.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein the plurality of fibers have a Water Absorbency Ratio of at least 15 according to the Water Absorbency test method.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein the plurality fibers have a Water Absorbency Ratio of at least 20 according to the Water Absorbency test method.
The wound dressing of claim 37, further comprising at least one of an antibacterial agent, an anti-inflammatory agent, an anesthetic agent, an anti-odor agent, or combinations thereof.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein at least a portion of the nonwoven web is adjacent to a wound.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein at least a portion of the nonwoven web absorbs wound fluid.
The wound dressing of claim 37, wherein the ratio of hydrophilic groups to fiber repeat units is in a range of from 1 to 3.
