Abstract
Monomers, polymers and copolymers are provided that incorporate at least one naturally occurring phenolic compound, such as a plant phenol.
Claims36
A vinyl ether monomer having the structure:
- where R1, R2, and R3 are each independently H or alkyl;
- R4 is either —O—R10— or absent;
- R10 is divalent organic group;
- and R is a substituted phenyl group.
A polymer or copolymer comprising, as a repeating unit, the structure:
- where R1, R2, and R3 are each independently H or alkyl;
- R4 is either —O—R10— or absent;
- R10 is divalent organic group;
- and R is a substituted phenyl group.
The copolymer of 22 produced by free radical polymerization.
1-(2-(4-allyl-2-methoxyphenoxy)ethoxy)ethyl acetate (AMEA).
A method for making a block or graft copolymer comprising contacting an allyl-terminal poly(2-chlorovinyl ether) with hydride-terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) under conditions to yield a poly(2-chloroethyl vinyl ether)-b-poly(dimethylsiloxane)-b-poly(2-chloroethyl vinyl ether) block or graft copolymer.
