Method and System for Presenting Event Notifications In a Social Media Environment

A computer-readable storage device encoding computer executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, performs a method for providing notification of events, the method comprising:

• receiving product data, wherein the product data comprises data for at least one of:
• (i) sale of a product for a given time period, (ii) an amount of the product remaining, (iii) a listing of a new product, and (iv) a calendared event;
• comparing the product data to a set of predefined trigger parameters;
• generating a dynamic message when at least one of the predefined trigger parameters are satisfied by the product data, wherein the dynamic message is based, at least in part, on the product data;
• and
• automatically transmitting the dynamic message to a set of recipients over a social networking medium.

A computer system for accessing a content item, the system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory coupled to the one or more processors, the memory for storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform a method for providing notification of events, the method comprising:
• receiving product data;
• comparing the product data to a set of predefined trigger parameters;
• generating a dynamic message when at least one of the predefined trigger parameters are satisfied by the product data, wherein the dynamic message is based, at least in part, on the product data;
• and
• automatically transmitting the dynamic message to a set of recipients over a social networking medium.
