System and method for providing a user interface to remotely control medical devices

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having encoded thereon computer executable instructions for a computer-implemented method of remotely controlling at least one electronic device in an optical surgical environment, comprising:

• presenting a graphical user interface that provides user interactive controls substantially similar to and remote from those provided by the at least one electronic device;
• and
• transmitting information input to the graphical user interface to the at least one electronic device, wherein the at least one electronic device operates responsively to the received input information.

A method for remotely controlling at least one optical surgical device over a network, comprising:

• presenting a substantially true screen graphical user interface to a user remote from the at least one optical surgical device;
• and
• transmitting information input to the substantially true screen graphical user interface to the at least one optical surgical device to operate the optical surgical device responsively to the received input information.
