Executing stored procedures at parallel databases

A computer program product for use at a computer system, the computer system including a parallel database coordinator, the parallel database coordinator configured to issue SQL statements against a parallel database, the parallel database including a plurality of database partitions spread across a plurality of compute nodes, the parallel database coordinator connected to an instance of standalone database server, the computer program product for implementing a method for executing a stored procedure, the computer-program product comprising one or more computer storage devices having stored thereon computer-executable instructions that, when executed at a processor, cause the computer system to perform the method, including the following:

• receive an execution request, the execution request requesting execution of a previously created stored procedure;
• forward the execution request to the standalone database server;
• receive a request from the standalone database server to execute a SQL statement against the parallel database, the request issued from a corresponding transformed stored procedure executing at the standalone database server in response to receiving the execution request, the transformed stored procedure including one or more SQL statements and at least one other non-SQL statement, the standalone database server handling execution of the at least one other non-SQL statement;
• execute the SQL statement against the parallel database;
• receive results from executing the SQL statement against the parallel database;
• and
• return the results to an appropriate destination based on the type of the SQL statement.

A system, the system including parallel database coordinator and a standalone database server,

• the parallel database coordinator comprising:
• one or more processors;
• system memory;
• and
• one or more computer storage devices having stored thereon computer-executable instructions representing an SQL statement processor and a session correlation module, the SQL statement process configured to:
• receive requests from the standalone database server to execute SQL statements against a parallel database, the requests issued from corresponding transformed stored procedures executing at the standalone database server in response to receiving execution requests, the transformed stored procedures including one or more SQL statements and at least one other non-SQL statement, the standalone database server handling execution of the at least one other non-SQL statement;
• execute the SQL statements against the parallel database;
• receive results from executing the SQL statements against the parallel database;
• and
• return the results to an appropriate destinations based on the type of the SQL statements;
• and
• wherein the a session correlation module is configured to:
• receive execution requests;
• create session tokens for received execution requests;
• receive back created session tokens along with received requests from the standalone database server;
• and
• use the created sessions tokens to align the received requests with client sessions.
