Abstract
The invention relates to systems and methods using a logical data model for aggregating data entities in a functional information system supported upon a computing platform, and also for providing systems and methods for analyzing economic information using a functional coordinate system.

A method for executing a command in a computing environment to perform a database operation on a representation of a functional information system stored on an electronic data store, the method comprising the steps of:
- storing a domain-specific syntax characterizing a functional information system for a domain, wherein the syntax comprises rules that define a set of valid locations in a coordinate space, the locations having semantic values and words associated with those values;
- receiving and storing a domain-specific data entity in an electronic data store;
- storing an assignment of a tag to the domain-specific data entity, the tag being:
- associated with a valid location in the coordinate space as determined by the rules of the domain-specific syntax;
- associated with a functional information system word, the word being chosen based on a function associated with the data entity and the word having a semantic value associated with the domain;
- defined as having the semantic value of the location of the data entity within the coordinate space;
- and
- defined as having the semantic value of the functional information system word;
- electronically storing the tag assigned to the data entity in the electronic data store so that the tag is logically linked to the stored data entity;
- and
- enabling a data retrieval operation on the data store based on the syntactic tag or the data entity.
A method for executing a command in a computing environment to perform a database operation on a representation of a functional information system stored on an electronic data store, the method comprising the steps of:
- electronically storing a plurality of rules-based fields comprising codes, wherein the rules characterize each field on the basis of relative basis rules and absolute basis rules;
- each of the rules-based fields comprising a plurality of rules-based alphanumeric codes based on defined coordinate values relating to data entities that characterize the coordinate values on relative and absolute bases;
- storing the alphanumeric codes in a computerized data store;
- wherein the alphanumeric codes represent ordered locations within a fixed coordinate system, each of the codes comprising a rules-based value, the code being defined by its coordinate location within the specific coordinate system in which that the value exists.
A method for executing a command in a computing environment to perform a database operation on a representation of a functional information system stored on an electronic data store, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving a domain-specific data entity from a user;
- receiving a tag logically linked with to domain-specific data entity, the tag being:
- associated with a valid location in the coordinate space as determined by the rules of the domain-specific syntax;
- associated with a functional information system word, the word being chosen based on a function associated with the data entity and the word having a semantic value associated with the domain;
- defined as having the semantic value of the location of the data entity within the coordinate space;
- and
- defined as having the semantic value of the functional information system word;
- and
- enabling a data retrieval operation on the data store based on the syntactic tag or the data entity, wherein a domain-specific syntax characterizes a functional information system for a domain, wherein the syntax comprises rules that define a set of valid locations in a coordinate space, the locations having semantic values and words associated with those values.
