Abstract
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with clustering using tri-point arbitration are described. In one embodiment, a method includes selecting a data point pair and a set of arbiter points. A tri-point arbitration similarity is calculated for data point pairs based, at least in part, on a distance between the first and second data points and the arbiter points. In one embodiment, similar data points are clustered.
Claims41
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that when executed by a computer cause the computer to perform a method, the method comprising:
- using a set of one or more arbiter points to identify similar data points in the data set, wherein a first data point (x1) and a second data point (x2) are determined to be similar by an arbiter point (a) when a distance between (x1) and (x2) is less than:
- i) a distance between (x1) and (a) and ii) a distance between (x2) and (a);
- and
- creating one or more clusters of data points that are similar.
A computing system, comprising:
- a processor;
- a tri-point similarity logic configured to cause the processor to use a set of one or more arbiter points to identify similar data points in the data set, wherein a first data point (x1) and a second data point (x2) are determined to be similar by an arbiter point (a) when a distance between (x1) and (x2) is less than:
- i) a distance between (x1) and (a) and ii) a distance between (x2) and (a);
- and
- a clustering logic configured to cause the processor to create one or more clusters of data points that are similar with respect to each other.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that when executed by a computer cause the computer to perform a method, the method comprising:
- selecting, from a data set, a data point pair comprising a first data point (x1) and a second data point (x2);
- where data points in the data set include at least a first attribute and a second attribute;
- selecting a set of arbiters A;
- determining a similarity metric for the data point pair based, at least in part, on a distance between (x1) (x2) and arbiters in A;
- wherein the similarity metric for (x1) and (x2) indicates similarity between (x1) and (x2) when a distance between (x1) and (x2) is less than:
- i) a distance between (x1) and arbiters in A and ii) a distance between (x2) and arbiters in A.
