Automatic optimization of scene configuration

A method, comprising:

• providing item information and relationship information for items to be placed in a scene;
• based on the item information and relationship information, defining a cost function for a synthesized configuration of the items within the scene;
• based on the cost function, determining a cost of the synthesized configuration;
• and,
• based on the cost of the synthesized configuration, identifying the synthesized configuration as an acceptable configuration.

A computing device comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor and comprising instructions to:
• receive at least one learning configuration related to an acceptable arrangement of items within an environment;
• extract from the at least one learning configuration representative item information and representative relationship information;
• synthesize a configuration of items for the environment based at least in part on the extracted representative item information and relationship information;
• determine a cost of the synthesized configuration;
• and
• based on the cost of the synthesized configuration, identify the synthesized configuration as an acceptable configuration.
