Abstract
A suture construction and method for forming a suture construction is disclosed. The construction utilizes a suture having an enlarged central body portion defining a longitudinal passage. First and second ends of the suture are passed through first and second apertures associated with the longitudinal passage to form a pair of loops. Portions of the suture lay parallel to each other within the suture. Application of tension onto the suture construction causes constriction of the longitudinal passage, thus preventing relative motions of the captured portions of the suture.
Claims30
An apparatus for use in surgical implantation, comprising:
- an adjustable flexible member construct having a body extending between first and second ends, the body defining first and second passage portions, the first end being passed into and through the first passage portion to place the first end outside of the first passage portion and form a first adjustable loop, the second end being passed into and through the second passage portion to place the second end outside of the second passage portion and form a second adjustable loop;
- and
- a fastener coupled to the flexible member construct.
An apparatus for use in surgical implantation, comprising:
- a flexible member having a body extending between first and second ends and defining a longitudinally extending passage extending from the first end to the second end, the first end extending into a first aperture in the body along a first passage portion of the longitudinally extending passage and out a second aperture in the body to form a first adjustable loop, the second end extending into a third aperture in the body along a second passage portion in the longitudinally extending passage and out a fourth aperture in the body to form a second adjustable loop;
- and
- a first fixation member coupled to the flexible member.
A system for use in surgical implantation, further comprising:
- an adjustable flexible member construct having a body extending from a first end to a second end and defining a longitudinally extending passage in the body extending from the first end to the second end, the adjustable flexible member construct including a first adjustable loop and a second adjustable loop formed from the body, at least a portion of the first adjustable loop passing through a first portion of the longitudinally extending passage and at least a portion of the second adjustable loop passing through a second portion of the longitudinally extending passage;
- and
- a first fixation device coupled to the adjustable flexible member construct.
