Abstract
A robotic catheter system including a first drive mechanism comprising a drive which interacts with a catheter device to cause the catheter device to move along its axis. A first encoder assembly that detects the motion of the catheter device by a magnetic interaction with the catheter device.
Claims20
A robotic catheter system, the system comprising:
- a first drive mechanism comprising a drive wheel mounted on a hub which interacts with the first catheter device to cause the device to move along its axis;
- a first encoder assembly which detects the motion of the first catheter device, this encoder assembly including a wheel, mounted on a hub, that is driven by interaction with the first catheter device;
- a second drive mechanism comprising a drive wheel, mounted on a hub, which interacts with the second catheter device to cause the device to move along its axis;
- a second encoder assembly which detects the motion of the second catheter device, this encoder assembly including a wheel mounted on a hub that is driven by interaction with the first catheter device;
- wherein at least one of the four wheels has a magnetic interaction with the catheter device with which it interacts.

- a second encoder assembly which detects the motion of the second catheter device;
- an arcuate channel which guides the second catheter device after its exit, when moving in a forward direction, from the second drive mechanism;
- wherein the second catheter device is drawn against the wall of the channel with the smaller arc by a magnetic interaction.
