Abstract
An external fixation assembly for bone fusion or separation is disclosed. The assembly includes a fracture fusion tube, with a bracket slidably engaged thereon. The assembly further includes a collet clamp connected to the bracket, with a ball collet rotatably seated within the clamp, the ball collet having an aperture for receiving a bone bin therethrough and perforations for a compression engagement with a bone pin. The assembly uses a single screw for threadably engaging the ball collet, the clamp and the bracket such that the position of the bone pin, ball collet and bracket are all fixed.
Claims25
An external bone fixation system comprising:
- a) a fracture fusion tube;
- b) at least one clamp slideably engaged on the fracture fusion tube;
- c) at least one pin collet clamp fixed to the bracket—being rotatable around the fracture fusion tube, the collet clamp defining a throughbore;
- d) a sleeve disposed in the throughbore for receiving a ball;
- e) a ball rotatable within the sleeve, the ball defining an aperture for receiving a bone pin therethrough;
- and
- f) a single screw for threadably engaging the pin collet clamp and the bracket such that the position of the ball, bracket, and collet clamp is fixed.
An external bone fixation system composing:
- a) a fracture fusion tube;
- b) at least one clamp slideably engaged on the fracture fusion tube;
- c) at least one pin collet clamp fixed to the bracket fracture fusion tube, the collet clamp defining a throughbore;
- d) a sleeve disposed in the throughbore for receiving a ball;
- e) a ball rotatable within the sleeve, the ball defining an aperture for receiving a bone pin therethrough, the ball further comprising multiple cuts;
- f) a screw threadably engaging the pin collet clamp for collapsibly engaging the ball into a fixed engagement with the bone pin.
An external bone fixation system composing:
- a) a fracture fusion tube;
- b) a pair of clamps connected to one another, each defining a throughbore of substantially identical size, a first one of the pair of claims slidably engaging the fracture fusion tube;
- c) at least one pin collet clamp fixed to the bracket and being rotatable around the fracture fusion tube, the collet clamp defining a throughbore;
- d) a modular sleeve placed in the throughbore of the second of the pair of clamps for receiving a ball;
- e) a ball rotatable within the sleeve, the ball defining an aperture of a predefined size for receiving a specific diameter bone pin therethrough;
- and
- f) a screw threadably engaging the pin collet clamp for engaging the ball into a fixed engagement with a bone pin.
