A system including wireless sensors for monitoring a patient's vital signs, such as various hemodynamic parameters of the patient. The system includes a plurality of wireless sensors attachable to or implantable in the subject, each sensor including a sensing component configured to detect a signal corresponding to at least one hemodynamic condition of the subject, and a communication component configured to wirelessly transmit the detected signal to another of the plurality of wireless sensors. The system also includes a master node configured to receive signals from and transmit control commands to at least one of the plurality of wireless sensors. A method of determining a patient's health status by utilizing data gathered from the wireless sensors as well as information of the patient from an electronic medical record storage and management system, is also provided.
