Abstract
A method for preparing a functionalized polymer, the method comprising the steps of polymerizing monomer to form a reactive polymer, and reacting the reactive polymer with a polycyano compound.
Claims14
A functionalized polymer prepared by the steps of:
- (i) polymerizing monomer to form a reactive polymer;
- and
- (ii) reacting the polymer with a polycyano compound.
A functionalized polymer defined by at least one of the formulae:
- where π is a polymer chain and R1 is a divalent organic group.
A functionalized polymer defined by at least one of the formulae:
- where π is a polymer chain and R1 is a divalent organic group.
A method for preparing a functionalized polymer, the method comprising the steps of:
- (i) polymerizing monomer to form a reactive polymer, where said step of polymerizing employs a lanthanide-based catalyst and where the lanthanide-based catalyst includes (a) a lanthanide-containing compound,
- (b) an alkylating agent, and (c) a halogen source;
- and
- (ii) reacting the reactive polymer with a polycyano compound.
