Abstract
As described herein, controlled and sustained administration of a therapeutic agent, such as a protein through the administration of one or more microparticles, may improve treatment of conditions, such as undesirable ocular conditions. The microspheres can be formulated to provide a sustained release of a protein, while reducing the number of protein aggregates, achieving desirable release profiles, and increasing stability of the protein within the microsphere formulations.
Claims6
A composition of matter comprising:
- particles, the particles comprising a protein, a biodegradable polymer, and one or more excipients;
- wherein the particles are configured to deliver the protein for a period of time of not less than two months.
An aqueous formulation comprising:
- a protein;
- a buffer;
- and
- one or more excipients selected from the group consisting of cyclodextrin, trehalose, and arginine;
- wherein the one or more excipients are present in the aqueous formulation at a molar ratio in the range of 10/1 to 200/1, with respect to the protein molar concentration.
