Abstract
Provided herein are new N-,C-disubstituted azoles and derivatives thereof that exhibit nematicidal activity and are useful, for example, in methods for the control of unwanted nematodes.
Claims43
A compound of Formula I or a salt thereof,
- wherein R1 and R5 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, and OCF3;
- R2 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, and CF3;
- R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, OCF3, OCH3, CN, and C(H)O;
- R7, R8 and R9 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, and OCF3;
- X is N or C;
- Y is N or C;
- and Z is N or C, with the proviso that at least one of X, Y, and Z is C;
- and
- E is selected from the group consisting of O, S, and N—R10, wherein R10 is alkyl;
- with the proviso that when X is C, Y is N, Z is N, and E is S, at least one of R1 through R5 and R7 through R9 is other than hydrogen,
- and further provided that when X is C, Y is N, Z is C, E is S, and R1, R2, R4, R5, and R7 through R9 are each hydrogen, R3 is other than F.
A compound of Formula II or a salt thereof,
- wherein R1 and R5 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, and OCF3;
- R2 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, and CF3;
- R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, OCF3, OCH3, CN, and C(H)O;
- R7, R8 and R9 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, and OCF3;
- X is N or C;
- Y is N or C;
- and Z is N or C, with the proviso that at least one of X, Y, and Z is C;
- and
- E is selected from the group consisting of O, S, and N—R10, wherein R10 is alkyl;
- with the proviso that when X is C, Y is N, Z is N, and E is S, at least one of R1 to R5 and R7 to R9 is other than hydrogen,
- and further provided that when X is C, Y is N, Z is N, E is S, and R1, R2, R4, R5, and R7 through R9 are each hydrogen, R3 is other than CH3.

- wherein R1 and R5 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, and OCF3;

- R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, OCF3, OCH3, CN, and C(H)O;
- R6, R8 and R9 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, and OCF3;
- X is N or C;
- Y is N or C;
- and Z is N or C, with the proviso that at least one of X, Y, and Z is C;
- and
- E is selected from the group consisting of O, S, and N—R10, wherein R10 is alkyl.

- R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, OCF3, OCH3, CN, and C(H)O;
- R6, R8 and R9 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, and OCF3;
- X is N or C;
- Y is N or C;
- and Z is N or C, with the proviso that at least one of X, Y, and Z is C;

- with the proviso that when X is C, Y is N, Z is N, and E is S, at least one of R1 through R6, R8, and R9 is other than hydrogen.

A method for control of unwanted nematodes, the method comprising administering to a plant, a seed or soil a composition comprising an effective amount of a compound of Formula I or a salt thereof,
- wherein R1 and R5 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, and OCF3;
- R2 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, and CF3;
- R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, CF3, OCF3, OCH3, CN, and C(H)O;
- R7, R8 and R9 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, CH3, and OCF3;
- X is N or C;
- Y is N or C;
- and Z is N or C, with the proviso that at least one of X, Y, and Z is C;
- and
- E is selected from the group consisting of O, S, and N—R10, wherein R10 is alkyl.
