Abstract
An inline automatic bicycle transmission, containing a planetary gear train, wherein gear selection is done by operation of a centrifugal governor. As the speed of the bicycle increases the transmission will automatically shift into a high gear ratio and the reverse occurs as the bicycle speed decreases.
Claims4
A multi-speed automatic transmission for a bicycle, comprising:
- an input cylinder connected to an input shaft adapter, said input shaft adapter defining an upstream connection for inputting rotational force;
- an output shaft mounted collinearly with said input cylinder, said output shaft containing a primary means of automatic gear selection and defining a downstream connection for outputting rotational force;
- and
- primary epicyclical gear means situated within said input cylinder, for transmitting a rotating force of said input cylinder to said output shaft according to a selected transmission ratio.
