Abstract
An intelligent golf course system comprising at least a network comprised of nodes and deployed on a golf course, the golf course comprising a series of holes or playing areas; The golf course system includes a means for determining the physical location of a node on the golf course, a means for tracking a change in a physical location of a node on the golf course, and a portable display unit configured to display information to a user. At least some portion of the network communicates using a wireless communication means and wherein the information at least includes a distance from the display unit to a node on the golf course.
Claims12
A networked communication system for deployment on a golf course comprising:
- a) at least a golfer interface device;
- b) at least one featured node;
- c) at least one support node;
- and wherein the golfer interface device, the at least one featured node, and the at least one support node form a data communication network for communication of data, and wherein the network uses radio frequency technology to calculate a result which represents a distance measurement between at least the golfer interface device and the at least one featured node.
The system of claim one wherein the distance measurement is aided by a calculation made based on a known physical location of a support node relative to the featured node and the golfer interface.
A communication and location system comprising:
- a. at least one featured node physically located on a golf course;
- and
- b. at least one golfer interface device in communication with the featured node;
- wherein the system is deployed on a golf course;
An intelligent golf course system comprising:
- a) at least a network comprised of nodes deployed on a golf course, the golf course comprising a series of holes or playing areas;
- b) a means for determining a physical location of a node on the golf course;
- c) a means for tracking a change in a physical location of a node on the golf course;
- d) a portable display unit configured to display information to a user;
- and wherein at least some portion of the network communicates using a wireless communication means;
- and wherein a node includes an address;
- and wherein the information at least includes a distance from the display unit to a node on the golf course.
