Methods and apparatus for enhanced network device location determinations

An apparatus for location determination at a network device, comprising:

• means for determining whether a first time value exceeds a repositioning time threshold value;
• means for transmitting at least one instruction message to one or more mobile devices in response to determining that the first time value exceeds the repositioning time threshold value, wherein the at least one instruction message instructs the one or more mobile devices to report a mobile device location;
• means for receiving at least one mobile device location message from each of the one or more mobile devices as a result of the transmitting;
• and
• means for computing a network device location estimate based at least in part on the at least one mobile device location message.

A computer program product for location determination at a network device, comprising:

• a computer-readable medium comprising:
• at least one instruction for determining whether a first time value exceeds a repositioning time threshold value;
• at least one instruction for transmitting at least one instruction message to one or more mobile devices in response to determining that the first time value exceeds the repositioning time threshold value, wherein the at least one instruction message instructs the one or more mobile devices to report a mobile device location;
• at least one instruction for receiving at least one mobile device location message from each of the one or more mobile devices as a result of the transmitting;
• and
• at least one instruction for computing a network device location estimate based at least in part on the at least one mobile device location message.

A network device apparatus for location determination, comprising:

• a location determination component configured to determine whether a first time value exceeds a repositioning time threshold value;
• a communication component configured to transmit at least one instruction message to one or more mobile devices in response to determining that the first time value exceeds the repositioning time threshold value, wherein the at least one instruction message instructs the one or more mobile devices to report a mobile device location;
• wherein the communication component is further configured to receive at least one mobile device location message from each of the one or more mobile devices as a result of the transmitting;
• and
• wherein the location component is further configured to compute a network device location estimate based at least in part on the at least one mobile device location message.
