Abstract
A system and method for locating a mobile device are presented. A mobile device is configured to transmit a beacon signal encoding an identifier of the mobile device. A relay device has a known location and is configured to receive the beacon signal from the mobile device, the beacon signal having a signal level, encode the identifier of the mobile device, the signal level, and an identifier of the relay device into a message, and transmit the message. A console device is configured to decode the message received from the relay device to identify an approximate location of the mobile device.
Claims19
A system, comprising:
- a mobile device configured to transmit a beacon signal encoding an identifier of the mobile device;
- a relay device having a known location and being configured to:
- receive the beacon signal from the mobile device, the beacon signal having a signal level,
- encode the identifier of the mobile device, the signal level, and an identifier of the relay device into a message, and
- transmit the message;
- and
- a console device configured to decode the message received from the relay device to identify an approximate location of the mobile device.
A relay device, comprising:
- a processor, the processor being configured to:
- receive a beacon signal from a mobile device, the beacon signal encoding an identifier of the mobile device and having a signal level,
- encode the identifier of the mobile device, the signal level, and an identifier of the relay device into a message, and
- transmit the message to a console device configured to decode the message received from the relay device to identify an approximate location of the mobile device.
A method, comprising:
- receiving a beacon signal from a mobile device, the beacon signal encoding an identifier of the mobile device and having a signal level,
- encoding the identifier of the mobile device, the signal level, and an identifier of a relay device into a message, and
- transmitting the message to a console device configured to decode the message to identify an approximate location of the mobile device.
