Abstract
Embodiments of the present invention include devices for converting a bi-pin interface to a wedge interface in a light-emitting-diode (LED) lighting system. The ultimate purpose of the invention is to reduce the cost, service time, and risk challenges faced by LED-lighting servicers. The invention accomplishes this purpose by neutralizing the challenge imposed by unknown inventory requirements.
Claims7
A converter for converting a bi-pin interface to a wedge interface, the converter comprising:
- a body;
- a flange that extends from the body, the flange comprising:
- an interior wall, within the flange;
- a hollow extension that extends through the flange, the hollow extension defined by the interior wall;
- a bridge that extends across the flange along the length of the hollow extension and forms a portion of the interior wall;
- and
- a channel, formed in the bridge, that extends across the flange substantially parallel to the hollow extension;
- and
- a conductor that extends through both the hollow extension and the channel, the conductor comprising:
- a first electrical interface;
- and
- a second electrical interface;
- wherein both the conductor and the hollow extension are configured such that a pin inserted into the hollow extension necessarily contacts the second electrical interface.
