Abstract
A vehicle lamp socket assembly includes a housing, a body, a sealant, and a terminal blade. The housing has a cavity and has a connector with a socket. The housing also has a pass-through spanning between the cavity and the socket. In assembly, the body is received in the housing and has a retainer that holds a vehicle lamp. The sealant is located at the pass-through and fills a section or more of the pass-through. And the terminal blade extends through the pass-through and through the sealant.
Claims20
A vehicle lamp socket assembly, comprising:
- a housing having a cavity and a connector with a socket, said housing further having a pass-through spanning between said cavity and said socket;
- a body received in said housing, said body having at least one retainer that holds a vehicle lamp in said body;
- a sealant located at said pass-through and filling at least a section of said pass-through;
- and
- a terminal blade extending through said pass-through and through said sealant, wherein said sealant is embedded around said terminal blade and provides a seal at said pass-through and at said terminal blade.
A method of assembling a vehicle lamp socket assembly, the method comprising the steps of:
- sealing a pass-through in a housing, said pass-through spanning between a cavity of said housing and a socket of said housing;
- inserting a body in said cavity;
- passing a terminal blade through said pass-through;
- and
- piercing said sealing with said terminal blade and extending said terminal blade through said sealing.
A vehicle lamp socket assembly, comprising:
- a housing having a cavity and a connector with a socket, said housing further having a first pass-through and a second pass-through, said first and second pass-throughs spanning between said cavity and said socket;
- a body received in said housing, said body having at least one retainer that holds a vehicle lamp in said body;
- an electrical contact coupled with said body;
- a grommet located around said body;
- a first sealant located at said first pass-through and filling at least a section of said first pass-through, said first sealant further located between an inner surface of said housing and an outer surface of said body;
- a second sealant located at said second pass-through and filling at least a section of said second pass-through, said second sealant further located between said inner surface of said housing and said outer surface of said body;
- a first terminal blade extending through said first pass-through and through said first sealant, said first terminal blade abutting said electrical contact, wherein said first sealant is embedded around said first terminal blade and provides a first seal at said first pass-through and at said first terminal blade;
- and
- a second terminal blade extending through said second pass-through and through said second sealant, said second terminal blade abutting said electrical contact, wherein said second sealant is embedded around said second terminal blade and provides a second seal at said second pass-through and at said second terminal blade.
