Abstract
It is an object of the present invention to increase the biomass quantity of plants by causing an exogenous gene to be carried in plant cells. An exogenous gene that promotes double-stranded DNA breakage is introduced into the cells of a plant, and the plant is grown.
Claims15
A plant biomass production method, comprising growing a plant having plant cells carrying an exogenous gene that promotes double-stranded DNA breakage,
- wherein the biomass of the plant is increased.
A plant production method comprising:
- introducing an exogenous gene that promotes double-stranded DNA breakage into plant cells and obtaining transformed plant cells;
- and
- obtaining a plant which has acquired biomass increasing ability from the transformed plant cells.
A transformed plant having plant cells carrying an exogenous gene that promotes double-stranded DNA breakage, and having increased ploidy.
A plant acquired by hybridization using as a parent plant a transformed plant having plant cells carrying an exogenous gene that promotes double-stranded DNA breakage, and having increased ploidy.
A plant biomass increasing agent, comprising DNA coding for a protein having double-stranded DNA breakage activity.
