Abstract
Disclosed is a semiconductor polymer having the following structure:

A polymer having a structure of:
- wherein
- M1 and M2 are each independently silicon, germanium, or tin;
- (R1)n and (R2)n are each independently a hydrocarbon, a hydrogen, or a halogen and n is an integer from 1 to 4;
- R3 is an aryl group or a carbonate group;
- and
- x is an integer from 1 to 1000.

A process for making a photoactive layer on a substrate, wherein the photoactive layer comprises the polymer of claim 1, the process comprising disposing the solution of claim 36 on the substrate and drying said solution to form the photoactive layer.
