Abstract
Cables having a conductor with a polymeric covering layer and a non-extruded coating layer made of a material based on a liquid composition including a polymer resin and a fire retardant. Methods of making cables are also provided.

A cable comprising:
- a. a conductor;
- b. a polymeric covering layer;
- and
- c. a non-extruded coating layer made of a material based on a liquid composition, the liquid composition comprising a polymer resin and a fire retardant.

A method of making a cable, the method comprising:
- a. providing a conductor covered with a polymeric covering layer;
- b. coating an outer surface of the polymeric covering layer with a liquid composition, the liquid composition comprising a polymer resin and a fire retardant;
- and
- c. curing the liquid polymer resin.
