Abstract
This invention relates to a device for performing an assay to detect an analyte in a fluid sample comprising a channel with reagent deposits comprising a flow control reagent positioned at one or more defined locations therein and a method for producing such a device. In particular, the invention relates to a microfluidic device.

A device for performing an assay comprising:
- an inlet;
- an outlet;
- a channel extending between the inlet and the outlet;
- at least one detection zone located at a position along the length of the channel, and
- at least one reagent deposit, within the channel, wherein the reagent deposit is arranged to increase or decrease the flow rate of a fluid flowing through the channel and to provide pick-up of reagent by the fluid.

A process for the production of a device, the process comprising:
- (a) providing an injection molded substrate defining an inlet;
- an outlet;
- a channel extending between the inlet and the outlet;
- and at least one detection zone located at a position along the length of the channel, and
- (b) depositing a delay reagent at a position within the channel,
- (c) drying the device to effect solvent evaporation.
