A system for estimating power usage in a computing environment, comprising:
- a processor device, operable in the computing environment, wherein the at least one processor device:
- automatically detects hardware configuration information by use of a software agent that is translated into power consumption information for implementing one of a plurality of power estimation models for efficient power consumption and utilization.
A computer program product for estimating power usage in a computing environment by a processor device, the computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:
- a first executable portion for that automatically detects hardware configuration information by use of a software agent that is translated into power consumption information for implementing one of a plurality of power estimation models for efficient power consumption and utilization.
