Abstract
Techniques (300, 400, 500) and apparatuses (100, 200, 700) for recognizing accented speech are described. In some embodiments, an accent module recognizes accented speech using an accent library based on device data, uses different speech recognition correction levels based on an application field into which recognized words are set to be provided, or updates an accent library based on corrections made to incorrectly recognized speech.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving device data for a computing device;
- determining, based on the device data, an accent library for use in speech recognition;
- receiving speech at the computing device;
- and
- recognizing the speech based on the accent library.
One or more computer-readable storage media having processor-executable instructions thereon that, responsive to execution by a processor, perform operations comprising:
- receiving speech;
- determining, based on an application field to which recognized text is set to be provided, a speech recognition correction level;
- recognizing the speech at the speech recognition correction level to produce the recognized text;
- and
- providing, to the application field, the recognized text.
A method comprising:
- receiving, from a remote computing device, a correction to a speech element that was incorrectly recognized using an accent library and at the remote computing device;
- altering the accent library to provide an updated accent library, the updated accent library able to more-accurately recognize the speech element;
- and
- providing the updated accent library to the remote computing device or another remote computing device effective to enable the remote computing device or the other remote computing device to more-accurately recognize the speech element using the updated accent library than using the accent library.
