Abstract
Devices and methods are set forth which provide for face or body tracking to provide gesture input and also to generate content displayed based upon the motion parallax of the player to create a 3D effect. Issuance of a command may cause the display to go from the 2D display of content to content presented according to motion parallax. Further the intensity of the motion parallax effect may be presented and switched between a first and a lesser, second application.
Claims20
A device for the play of a game by a user comprising:
- a video display;
- apparatus for generating data corresponding to at least the approximate position of at least a portion of the player's body relative to the display, said relative position changeable during operation of the gaming device;
- a processor configured to (i) receive said data from said apparatus, (ii) to render an image at said display in connection with said game based upon motion parallax (iii) detect and process at least predetermined changes to said relative position to control one or more of an image or feature of said gaming device and (iv) to display said image in a first state representing the rendition of the image based upon motion parallax and a second state representing rendition of the image without consideration of the motion parallax and change the display of the image between said first and second states in response to a command.
A method for presenting a game on a device having a video display and a camera for acquiring an image of the video display user, said method comprising:
- enabling said camera for acquiring images of at least a portion of the user's body during the play of the game;
- configuring said device to provide said acquired images to a processor for determining at least the approximate position of said at least a portion of the user's body relative to the video display, said relative position changeable during play the game;
- configuring said processor for (i) rendering game content at said display (ii) detecting and processing changes to said position of said at least a portion of the user's body relative to the video display and (iii) displaying at least elements of said content in a first state representing the rendition of the image based upon motion parallax and a second state representing rendition of the image without consideration of the motion parallax and for changing the display of said elements between said first and second states in response to a command.
