Abstract
The invention provides novel B7-H3 and B7-H4 polypeptides useful for co-stimulating T cells, isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding them, vectors containing the nucleic acid molecules, and cells containing the vectors. Also included are methods of making and using these co-stimulatory polypeptides.

A method of treating a subject with inflammation or autoimmune disease comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of recombinant cells,
- wherein the recombinant cells comprise a recombinant polynucleotide comprising an expression regulatory element operably linked to a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein comprising the extracellular domain of B7-H4 or a functional fragment thereof, wherein the protein is a transmembrane protein or a secretable B7-H4-Ig fusion protein.
A method of treating a subject with graft verse host disease comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of recombinant cells,
- wherein the recombinant cells comprise a recombinant polynucleotide comprising an expression regulatory element operably linked to a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein comprising the extracellular domain of B7-H4 or a functional fragment thereof, wherein the protein is a transmembrane protein or a secretable Ig fusion protein.
A recombinant cell comprising a recombinant polynucleotide comprising an expression regulatory element operably linked to a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein comprising the extracellular domain of B7-H4 or a functional fragment thereof, wherein the protein is a transmembrane protein or a secretable Ig fusion protein.
