Abstract
The present invention relates to compounds (e.g. antibodies) that specifically bind and inhibit NKp46. Such compounds are capable, when administered to a mammal, capable of increasing the frequency of reactive and/or active NK cells. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical composition and methods of using the antibodies and compositions to treat or prevent diseases, e.g. cancer, infection, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases and the like.

A method of treating an individual having a cancer or infectious disease administering to an individual a therapeutically active amount of an antibody that inhibits NKp46 and does not substantially lead to the depletion of NKp46-expressing NK cells.
A method of producing an antibody for the treatment of a cancer or infectious disease in a mammalian subject, said method comprising the steps of:
- a) immunizing a non-human mammal with an immunogen comprising a human NKp46 polypeptide or providing a library of antibodies;
- and b) selecting an antibody from said immunized animal or library that binds to the NKp46 polypeptide with specificity and that inhibits NKp46 signaling.
