Mobile wireless communications device with electrically conductive continuous ring and related methods

An electronic device comprising:

• a housing comprising an electrically conductive continuous ring antenna at a perimeter thereof;
• a printed circuit board (PCB) carried by said housing and comprising a ground plane;
• wireless circuitry carried by said PCB and coupled to said electrically conductive continuous ring antenna;
• at least one first body mechanically and electrically coupled between said electrically conductive continuous ring antenna and said ground plane;
• and
• at least one second body mechanically coupled between said electrically conductive continuous ring antenna and said PCB but electrically insulated therefrom.

An electronic device comprising:

• a housing comprising an electrically conductive continuous ring antenna at a perimeter thereof;
• a printed circuit board (PCB) carried by said housing and comprising a ground plane;
• wireless circuitry carried by said PCB and coupled to said electrically conductive continuous ring antenna;
• a plurality of first bodies mechanically and electrically coupled between said electrically conductive continuous ring antenna and said ground plane;
• and
• a plurality of second bodies mechanically coupled between said electrically conductive continuous ring antenna and said PCB but electrically insulated therefrom.

A method for making an electronic device comprising:

• forming a housing to have an electrically conductive continuous ring antenna at a perimeter thereof and carrying a printed circuit board (PCB) comprising a ground plane and wireless circuitry coupled to the electrically conductive continuous ring antenna;
• mechanically and electrically coupling at least one first body between the electrically conductive continuous ring antenna and the ground plane;
• and
• mechanically coupling at least one second body between the electrically conductive continuous ring antenna and the PCB but electrically insulated therefrom.
