Abstract
A field-pole magnet manufacturing apparatus fractures a magnet fixed on a die serving as a lower tool by causing a punch of an upper tool to press the magnet while in contact with the magnet. At least one projection is formed in the punch of the upper tool symmetrically with respect to the central position of the magnet in the width direction of the magnet.

A field-pole magnet manufacturing apparatus for fracturing a magnet fixed on a pair of dies serving as a lower tool by causing a punch of an upper tool to press the magnet while in contact with the magnet, the magnet being provided with a cutout, wherein
- the punch of the upper tool has at least one projection that is symmetric with respect to a central position of the magnet in a width direction of the magnet,
- the magnet is fixed such that a surface thereof on which the cutout is provided opposes the pair of dies serving as the lower tool and the cutout is located between the pair of dies serving as the lower tool, and
- the punch presses a surface of the magnet opposite from the surface of the magnet on which the cutout is provided.
A field-pole magnet manufacturing method for fracturing a magnet fixed on a pair of dies serving as a lower tool by causing a punch of an upper tool to press the magnet while in contact with the magnet, the magnet being provided with a cutout, the method comprising:
- providing the punch of the upper tool with at least one projection that is symmetric with respect to a central position of the magnet in a width direction of the magnet;
- fixing the magnet such that a surface thereof on which the cutout is provided opposes the pair of dies serving as the lower tool and the cutout is located between the pair of dies serving as the lower tool;
- causing the projection of the punch to come into contact with an upper surface of the magnet at central positions of sections obtained by dividing a width of the magnet by a number of the projection of the punch, the upper surface of the magnet being opposite from The surface of the magnet on which the cutout is provided;
- pressing the pouch against the magnet so as to form cracks at sites of the magnet that are in contact with the punch;
- and
- fracturing the magnet by propagation of the formed cracks in the width direction.
