Abstract
A method for making a decorative ear cover includes generating a positive mold of a user's ear, placing the mold on a thermoforming machine, placing a thermoforming film in the thermoforming machine such that the thermoforming film is disposed over the positive mold, activating the thermoforming machine, so as to heat the thermoforming film, provide suction on a bottom side of the thermoforming film, and thermoforming the film to a shape of the positive mold, thereby generating a decorative ear cover, de-activating the thermoforming machine and removing the decorative ear cover from the thermoforming machine, and trimming sides of the decorative ear cover such that only portions of the thermoforming film that reflect the shape of the positive mold remain.
Claims17
A method for making a decorative ear cover, comprising:
- generating a positive mold of a user's ear;
- placing the mold on a thermoforming machine;
- placing a thermoforming film in the thermoforming machine such that the thermoforming film is disposed over the positive mold;
- activating the thermoforming machine, so as to heat the thermoforming film, provide suction on a bottom side of the thermoforming film, and thermoforming the film to a shape of the positive mold, thereby generating a decorative ear cover;
- de-activating the thermoforming machine and removing the decorative ear cover from the thermoforming machine;
- and
- trimming sides of the decorative ear cover such that only portions of the thermoforming film that reflect the shape of the positive mold remain.
A method for making a decorative ear cover, comprising:
- generating a positive mold of a user's ear;
- placing the mold on a thermoforming machine;
- placing a first thermoforming film in the thermoforming machine such that the first thermoforming film is disposed over the positive mold;
- activating the thermoforming machine, so as to heat the first thermoforming film, provide suction on a bottom side of the first thermoforming film, and thermoforming the first film to a shape of the positive mold;
- de-activating the thermoforming machine;
- applying one or more paints, fabrics, glitter, or decorative elements on top of the first thermoforming film, wherein the decorative elements include rigid objects;
- placing a second thermoforming film in the thermoforming machine such that the second thermoforming film is disposed over the first thermoforming film;
- activating the thermoforming machine, so as to heat the second thermoforming film, provide suction on a bottom side of the second thermoforming film, and thermoforming the second film to a shape of the first thermoforming film including the one or more paints, fabrics, glitter, or decorative elements, thereby generating a decorative ear cover;
- de-activating the thermoforming machine and removing the decorative ear cover from the thermoforming machine;
- and
- trimming sides of the decorative ear cover such that only portions of the first and second thermoforming films that reflect the shape of the positive mold remain.
A decorative ear cover, comprising:
- a first thermoforming film custom molded in a shape of a user's ear;
- one or more paints, fabrics, glitter, or decorative elements disposed on top of the first thermoforming film, wherein the decorative elements include rigid objects;
- and
- a second thermoforming film disposed over the one or more paints, fabrics, glitter, or decorative elements and custom molded in the shape of the user's ear, such that the one or more paints, fabrics, glitter, or decorative elements are sealed between the first and second thermoforming films;
- wherein the decorative ear cover is shaped to fit securely over the user's ear.
